WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Senior Director of Payment Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership over the end-to-end payment process. S/he leverages data and metrics from the operation to improve the customer experience, drive costs out of the business and meet or exceed established processing SLAs. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key business partners (i.e., 1st and 2nd Line Risk, Technology, Business and Product teams, etc.) and others to manage risk and the customer experience. Leads and develops the Payment Operations team.

Job Description

• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company's business units.
• Aims to deliver superior service to clients by driving and optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of people, processes, and technology thereby enhancing financial performance, increasing investment capacity, and managing risk.
• Builds sustainable repeatable capabilities that support the delivery of the highest standards of service and execution.
• Analyzes and reviews data tools, business processes, and operational standards to execute service delivery.
• Evaluates and will ensure that operations meet company objectives, business needs, service agreements, and relevant requirements.
• Researches and monitors the external landscape to identify developments and translate them into operational implications for the company.

Essential Functions/Responsibility Statements:

• Will collaborate, define, and execute the strategic direction of the Payment Operations Team.

• Translates the wider goals and vision of the organization into service and team-specific objectives, and priorities, identifying opportunities to further enhance systems and processes by making the best use of available technologies.
• Analyzes, plans, and executes pilots and proofs-of-concept for emerging payments and new technologies.
• Maintains an integrated view of market trends and competitive position.
• Ensures business stability, growth, strategic alignment, and enhanced profitability for payments.
• Develops, leads, and motivates the Payment Services team to deliver high standards of operational excellence as a high-performing team and a culture of best practice.
• Delivers efficient and effective processing of financial transactions across channels in a high-volume environment.
• Benchmarks the effectiveness and efficiency of payment metrics against historical performance and best practices.
• Manages the payment processing function and supports business metrics and indicators to support the business.
• Serves as an escalation point for payment issues, and works closely with the payments, operations, and other teams to quickly resolve issues.
• Identifies and drives initiatives to prevent and reduce losses related to customer verification, billing, and payments.
• Ensures timely and professional communication with internal and external customers to minimize losses in all business lines.

Education:

• REQUIRED - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• PREFERRED - Master's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics.
  
  

Work Experience:

• REQUIRED - Experience leading and managing projects., 12-15 years.
  
  

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to build and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external partners
• Proven track record of driving or partnering with IT on complex projects
• Strong business acumen – able to identify and work with key business partners to maximize business results
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and mathematical skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Experience with SQL or Microsoft Access
• Ability to successfully manage competing priorities with oversight and vision of various projects and initiatives to achieve organizational goals and deliver results
• Familiarity with various US payments methods and rules
• Comfortable operating within a fast-paced / high-volume environment
• Experience coordinating projects and leading programs for a financial services company or department
