Prod Lead Supporting Functions
The Production Lead, Supporting Functions role leads and directs the supporting functions’ strategy and team at a seed site for Bayer. Areas of responsibility would include all aspects related to Safety, Quality, Automation, Maintenance and Continuous Improvement within planting, growing, harvesting, drying, shelling, treating, packaging and storing/distributing to ensure safe delivery of operational goals to support business objectives.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Production Lead, are to:
- Have leadership responsibility for the site Safety, Quality, Automation & Maintenance site professionals and is expected to get results through high personal proficiency, delegation of tasks, coordinating the work of others, developing/coaching others, developing the team and collaborating across site and regionally to innovate and improve processes;
- Optimize people performance and actively develop team members through mentoring, coaching, training, competency determination, recognition, creation of progression plans, appraisals/reviews, performance management and providing developmental opportunities;
- Help cover site lead duties during his/her absence, if required;
- Create and drive the supporting functions’ site strategy, ensuring a safety first, quality focused, maintenance reliability, continuous improvement and digital transformation culture at the site;
- Operate in a manner that ensures site personnel fulfill the Safety, Quality, Automation and Maintenance business goals that will contribute to North America (NA) Crop Science objectives;
- Be accountable for safe and timely delivery of quality supply based on production schedules while maintaining an efficient operation. Support overall site Key Metrics to include Safety; Quality, Automation, Maintenance and Cost efficiency;
- Be responsible for ensuring that site level budgets & facility plans are achieved from a Safety, Quality, Automation, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement perspective;
- Support and provide empowering leadership in onePSS efforts that drive continuous improvement initiatives & identify key cost leverages;
- Create Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), track metrics, and use data/analytics to drive improved site performance;
- Serve as a leader of projects on broader NA Row Crop initiatives which could include outside site responsibility and work collectively with peer sites and across functions;
- Actively engage and promote Bayer within the community;
- Lead, Support, and facilitate necessary internal and external activities to protect our License To Operate;
- Serve as Site point of contact for company colleagues related to Safety, Quality, Automation, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid driver’s license (in order to be eligible to drive a company car, your driving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s risk screening for hiring drivers – Motor Vehicle Record will be reviewed as part of pre-employment screening);
- Ability to critically think about the business;
- Strong Communication & Collaborative skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work-related experience in safety, quality, maintenance or automation;
- Previous work-related experience in manufacturing, supply chain or agriculture;
- Degree disciplines of Business, Agriculture, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSHE) or Environmental related MBA.
