Chloeta is seeing a part-time Physical Therapist to aid patients in Newcomb, NM. The purpose of the Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) program is to improve academic achievement of students with disabilities and to introduce strict accountability measures holding schools, districts, and states responsible for the academic results of student with disabilities.

Tour of Duty: This position is for one day per week, 3 hours each day assigned, for one year. Off-duty during holidays and school breaks.

Job Classification: Part-Time Contract


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Physical Therapy services for the students with disabilities.
  • Provide Physical Therapy evaluations and three year re-evaluations.
  • Plan and implement a type of care which will entail PT goals and objectives.
  • Participate in IEP meetings for student receiving PT services.
  • Be available to parents during parent/teachers conferences to answer questions they may have regarding the PT services and program at designated School.
  • Provide in-service to teachers and educational assistance on a need basis.
  • Provide training to parents and staff so that they can become familiar with the PT program and share techniques that teachers and parents can do to help children with gross motor development.
  • Train Para-professional to assist with the PT goals and exercises.
  • Be available for Child Find Activities during school and community events.
  • Parents will receive copies of the evaluations and the PT IEP Goals and objectives.
  • The vendor will also provide progress reports to parents on a quarterly basis.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact clearly with both staff and patients.
  • Flexibility to work with a variety of people, differing in ages, personalities, and backgrounds.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills to work efficiently with others to provide new ideas and help inspire staff and management.
  • Development of good rapport and communication with parents through phone calls, letters and visitations as appropriate.
  • Flexibility to meet the facility’s scheduling needs.

Education and Experience

  • Required: Graduate of an approved physical therapy program in the U.S.A. with a preference for a Master's or Doctorate degree.
  • Required: Possess a current, valid, unrestricted physical therapy medical license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. License verification must be provided at the time of application.
  • Required: Compliance with all federal mandates, State Board of Education regulations, local policies and state physical therapy licensing requirements as applicable to providing physical therapy services to students with special needs.
  • Required: Possess and maintain a current driver's license in any state.
  • Required: Provide three (3) professional references at the time of application.
  • Preferred: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Preferred: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
  • Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time.
  • Able to frequently lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
  • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.

Pre-employment Requirements:

This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, criminal background check, drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, education verification, employment verification, and/or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides and the responsibilities of this position.


Drug and Alcohol Testing:

To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.


Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.


Emergency Response:

Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
