Job description

B.A./B.S in biology, biochemistry, or molecular biology. U of California or equivalent university preferred. Work involves receiving fresh biopsy specimens of human cancer and isolating 3 dimensional clusters of living cancer cells, which are then placed in cell culture, to test activity of a large number of anticancer drugs, which the objective of identifying the "best" drug regimen to treat cancer patients on an individual basis. Requires dexterity and meticulous sterile technique and attention to detail, including both manual and automated pipetting. Following cell culture, measurement of tumor cell death, with a variety of metabolic and morphologic endpoints. Work may involve drug preparation (use of analytical balance), etc. In addition to clinical work is discovery-oriented biomedical research, with opportunities for co-authorship on peer review publication.

Hours are typically Tues-Sat and on call every other Sun/Mon.

Part time with potential to go full time.
