Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 243 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,500 employees and more than 630 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.
The Carter Unit at Kapi‘olani is a pediatric unit dedicated to the care of patients from birth to approximately 6 to 8 years of age with the goal of providing comprehensive, individualized and family centered care to our patients. The experienced team in the Carter Unit provides complex medical/surgical care, care for medically fragile children and restorative care, telemetry, cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, chest tubes, traction, Bi-pap ventilation, apnea monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia phototherapy, and IV therapy, as well as postoperative open-heart surgery.

Under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, you will help to deliver quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of patient care. Minimum Qualifications: Must be in last semester of nursing school or have completed a degree in nursing or nursing school educational program accepted for registered nurse licensure by the Hawai‘i Board of Nursing. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card.
Prefered Qualifications: Must have completed the Spring 2023 Academy Innovations Pediatrics, Carter Program at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children.
