Catholic Charities USA is a national organization that offers support to its 167 member agencies, provides disaster relief, and promotes poverty-reduction through research and convening. In 2021, the Catholic Charities network served over 15 million people. The VISTA will have the opportunity to enhance this work alongside the Refugee and Immigration Services (RIS) team. The VISTA Migrant and Refugee Access Coordinators will support CCUSA’s national effort to foster the intentional growth and professionalization of migrant-serving member organizations and to develop responses to support the creation and/or expansion of immigration legal services, refugee resettlement and migration services programs. This VISTA position is part of Catholic Charities USA’s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you will meet with VISTA Leaders and virtually with other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty. Catholic Charities USA’s approach to migration is rooted in the Gospel and Catholic social teaching. Catholic Charities serves migrants and refugees along the border and throughout the U.S. interior by providing basic humanitarian needs such as food, shelter and clothing; assisting families with social work case management; providing asylum-seekers with immigration legal assistance; and resettling refugees from all corners of the world. We serve all of those in need who come to us–regardless of immigration status or faith–not because they are Catholic, but because we are. We are a church, and a nation of immigrants. The Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigration Services team (RIS) supports members in program development, program implementation and advocacy to ensure excellent and comprehensive services for people seeking humanitarian protection.
