Description
The Town of Middleborough provides an eligible undergraduate/graduate student who has been accepted
and is participating in an accredited Bachelor or Master degree program in Public Administration or
related program with the opportunity to gain practical experience in municipal government as well as to
provide the Town of Middleborough with valuable service on significant community projects. This year’s
Town of Middleborough Fellow will provide research and administrative support to the Town Manager’s
Office during the 2023 academic year.
For this fellowship, the successful candidate will work side by side with the Town Manager and Assistant
to the Town Manager providing research and analysis for the following projects and initiatives, as well as
many others:
- Green Communities Competitive Grant Program and Grant Management
- Performance, Strategic Planning, and Budget Tracking and Presentation
- Procurement and Community Preservation Projects
The Fellow will also be expected to provide considerate customer service when answering any resident or
staff issues, phone calls, or emails. Additionally, the position will be assigned a variety of analytical and
staff support work, including the creation and implementation of electronic filing, and leading the Town’s
2021 and 2022 Annual Reports, among others.
Eligibility Criteria
The Town of Middleborough Fellowship is awarded competitively. Successful fellowship applicants must
be in good standing academically and enrolled in Bachelor or Master degree program in Political Science
or related program and will be interviewed and selected by the Town Manager’s Office.
Fellowship Benefits
In exchange for nineteen hours per week of service during the fellowship period, the Fellow will hold an
Administrative Analyst position and receive an internship stipend award for the academic year. The
Fellow will also gain invaluable firsthand work experience taking on real projects in a fast-paced Town
Manager office. Middleborough’s Assistant to the Town Manager recently completed a similar
Fellowship program before being hired.
