EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 65,000 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Supervisor to work full time for the Suffolk County Children's Center.

The Supervisor position is a non-exempt position paying $23-27 per hour. Hours of operation is Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM. The office is located in Central Islip, NY. The role reports to Division Director.

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Suffolk County Children’s Center at Cohalan Court provides a childcare setting where children engage in educational and literacy-rich activities while their parents or guardians attend to court business. The Supervisor is responsible for managing the staff/volunteers and daily operations of the Suffolk District Court Children’s Center at Cohalan Court Complex while ensuring the goals of the program are met.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Recruit, train and supervise staff and volunteers.
2. Maintain schedule of staff and volunteers to ensure adequate program coverage.
3. Develop and implement safe and developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning plans in accordance with funder requirements.
4. Conduct intake reports with each family.
5. Prepare and maintain detailed statistical reports.
6. Ensure program polices and procedures are adhered to.
7. Apprise parents of program parameters and offer community referrals when necessary.
8. Act as program liaison with Court employees, community partners and funders.
9. Attend Advisory Board Meetings and report on program updates, and service delivery.
10. Assist in grant writing and fundraising in conjunction with Division Director to ensure sustainability of program.
11. Coordinate and or conduct staff training to support staff development.
12. Monitor ongoing performance of initiatives and develop recommendations for performance improvement.


Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required:

  • Associates Degree in early childhood education or a related field or Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required. Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience required.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with ability to handle emergency situations.
  • Must have or acquire CPR and First Aid certification once hired.
  • Able to lift small children and toddlers up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
