Job Summary
The staff member who holds this position will serve as a liaison with Early Steps, Child Find, and/or Head Start. They will complete observations, assessments and individual education plans as well as participate in Eligibility Determination meetings for children referred to our district, who are suspected of having a disability. This staff member will work with evaluators and Admissions Representatives to determine the appropriate educational services for the preschool aged children who come through our office.
Essential Functions
1. Participates in Multidisciplinary Team for referral, evaluations, eligibility, Individual Education Plans, and placement activities according to district, state and federal guidelines.
2. Maintains communication with parents and appropriate district staff in facilitating admissions and placement of exceptional students.
3. Reviews placement recommendations of evaluators and Multidisciplinary Teams and writes the Individual Education Plans.
4. Assists in preparation of required district, state federal documents and projects.
5. Maintains communication with Early Steps and community agencies to facilitate follow-through with specific cases
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Five (5) years successful elementaryclassroom teaching experience.
Certifications & Licenses:
Florida Department of Education Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to create an effective Individual Education Plan
- Working knowledge of students with special needs
- Working knowledge of DCPS exceptional student education policies and procedures
- Knowledge of federal, state, and district legislation, policies and standards regarding ESE
- Knowledge of data management information systems
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
- Strong presentation development and delivery skills
- Ability to plan and implement Multidisciplinary Team recommendations
- Ability to maintain communicationwith parents and appropriate school and district staff in facilitating referral, eligibility, and reevaluation of students with exceptional needs
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to prepare reports
