The Senior Managing Consultant is a client-facing role that supports the growth of our Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Practice by leading large, complex ESG engagements. The Senior Managing Consultant works across multiple industries and functional areas and leads large teams or programs involving multiple workstreams. The Senior Managing Consultant supervises work and day-to-day development of others and has the option to take on formal people management responsibilities (e.g., career development, compensation). This role contributes to the fields of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) and Social Impact (SI) to advance environmental and social sustainability, which is increasingly becoming a source of competitive advantage for our customers and communities.
The work you will lead may include developing the decarbonization roadmap for a company, identifying portfolio reshaping opportunities for a sustainable financing institution or supporting a global retailer on innovative options to decarbonize its operations or to increase the health, equity, and sustainability of its supply chain.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
Serves as a catalyst to build out Point Bs vision of integrated ESG strategies
Drives intersectionality with Social (including supply chain) and corporate and board Governance
Understands and successfully advocates for the unique value proposition of an integrated ESG strategy that leverages materiality, transparency, long-term targets toward science and context-based goals
Understands and executes complex programs which involve Environmental (including climate action, decarbonization plans, renewables, carbon markets, Scope 1, 2 and 3 inventory, goal setting and implementation strategies), Social (vendor-buyer influencers, life cycle analysis, behavior influencers and management levers) and Governance (compliance and risk management, responsible labor/contract labor and human rights practices), etc.
Identifies potential risks, develops climate, supply chain, and risk mitigation strategies and recommends key decisions for programs
Manages the effects of Social applications on corporate functions (e.g., values-based standards, public social equity commitments on General Council, Responsible Labor practices)
Facilitates best practices for ESG strategy and approaches such as stakeholder mapping and engagement, materiality and ESG Risk assessments, disclosure and transparency and short and long-range goal setting
Serves as our client’s partner through all phases of an engagement; operates effectively with senior leaders at our clients – managing their operating, management, and board Governance through nuances and often conflicting priorities
Leads the strategic and tactical elements of large values-driven engagements and drives decision-making throughout the full lifecycle to move the work forward
Develops and manages complex program/project structures, schedules, budgets, and resource plans with aspirational Environmental Social strategies and initiatives
Provides oversight to ensure quality of engagement workstreams among internal Point B teams and client functions
Adapts program leadership approaches, deliverables, and milestones to key stakeholders and other client situations (e.g., project status, implementation strategy, accountability and change management framework)
Grows network through exceptional client service delivery and maintains relationships to support Point B’s ESG business development
Opportunistically engages in ESG growth efforts through joining sales calls and pursuit teams; and preparing business development collateral, meeting with their network and discussing Point B value proposition
Coaches and mentors Point B associates and clients in developing the ESG practice and growing individual associate’s skills and careers
Consistently demonstrates and lives Point B cultural tenets and values
Participates in firm culture activities to connect regularly with other Point B’ers (e.g. account meetings, Practice Meetings, etc.)

WHAT WE EXPECT YOU’VE ALREADY DONE:
B.A. or B.S require; MBA or MS preferred
8-14 years of relevant experience
Deep understanding of complex energy systems
Proven ability to lead teams, motivate others and quickly gain the respect of clients and colleagues
Experience developing others
Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly
Consulting experience desired, customer-facing experience required
Experience leading large, complex engagements or strategic initiatives
Cross-industry experience highly desired
Training, certificate or degreed in Climate Action, Sustainability, Environmental Social management practices and best practice strategies. Educated in stakeholder, board and corporate Governance and related communication positioning and strategies. Knowledge of social-economic sustainability strategies, organizational management and global standards and disclosure bodies
Local, national, or global cross-industry network of influencers and opinion leaders in the Environmental field (ideally includes climate action, decarbonization, renewable energy, sustainable financing)
Regularly exposed to the changing landscape of practices and standards through their network.
Understands systems and the effect of Social practices (e.g., climate justice, client actions including first and second tier contracting) on local communities and indigenous populations, marginalized communities
Demonstrated expertise in sustainability, energy transition and cleantech; relevant experience in supply chain (upstream, downstream, procurement methods).
Preferred experience in renewables (solar, wind, hydrogen, hydro, geothermal), asset decarbonization, decarbonization policy, sustainable financing, carbon offsets, carbon audit or carbon modelling
Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen; comfort working with numbers/quantitative models

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The estimated salary range for this role is $145,000 - $246,000 USD per year. This salary range is provided as required by local and state law as applicable. Individual salaries vary on a number of factors including but not limited to geography, skills, education, experience and unique qualifications where applicable.
Bonuses are awarded at Point B’s discretion and are based upon individual contributions and overall firm performance.
