Job Overview

The BI Analyst role is responsible for providing direct support to one or more functional areas of the business through fulfilling ad hoc requests, supporting functional goals and initiatives requiring analytical support, monitoring the performance of KPIs, and providing analytical expertise. The BI Analyst I, II, III is also responsible for partnering with the Data Analytics Team to communicate the data needs of the supported function(s). The BI Analyst III supports the Business Intelligence Team by serving as a knowledge resource for more junior team members both in analytical and Red Classic specific spaces, being the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the functional area(s) supported and providing input on ideas on short term goals for the Business Analytics and Business Intelligence Team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provides functional support to one or more assigned areas by fulfilling ad hoc requests and supporting goals and initiatives requiring analytics support through the application of descriptive and inferential statistics; leveraging analytical and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Excel; Business Intelligence Team best practices; and providing analytical expertise and guidance to ensure a return on value from the request, goal, or initiative
• Communicates trends and insights into performance to the supported area(s) by monitoring KPIs and performing analysis that identifies early indicators of poor performance, success, or other performance opportunities
• Collaborates with the Data Analytics Team that supports filling the data needs of the supported area(s) through the communication of data requirements, knowledge of functional processes and data interpretation, and knowledge of source data systems
• Serves as the Business Intelligence Team’s SME for the supported area(s) by having a thorough knowledge of operational processes; KPIs including what they are, how they’re calculated, precedents, dependents, how they’re interpreted, what operational processes, actions impact them, and what they represent; and operational applications (e.g. TMW) used by supported area(s)
• Supports Business Intelligence by the server as a resource for more junior members of the Business Analytics Team by answering questions regarding company-specific knowledge or general analytical expertise, guiding usage and application of Red Classis’s business intelligence tools such as Alteryx and Tableau or the Business Intelligence Team best practices and provide input and ideas for short term goals and initiatives for the Business Analytics and Business Intelligence Teams, including new best practices or updates to existing or new analytical techniques, methodologies, or tools with use cases to Red Classic
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong mathematical skills with a focus on statistics
• Familiar with data visualization and analytical tools (e.g. Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau)
• Understanding of best practices and design principles of data visualization and dashboarding
• Familiar with scripting languages used in analytics space (such as Python)
• MS Office with emphasis on Excel and Access
• Ability to creatively apply skills and knowledge base to form effective solutions
• Ability to foster and leverage relationships

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
• Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred area of study: Economics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a Quantitative Analysis field of study
