Description:
The Center for Reproductive Health Research in the Southeast (RISE; https://rise.emory.edu/) in the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences (BSHES) at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health is hiring two Public Health Program Associates (PHPAs) to contribute to the management and coordination of research projects and Center operations. These positions are hybrid, with both in-person responsibilities a few days per week and the ability to work from home a few days per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Under limited supervision, uses a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges.
  • Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research.
  • Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
  • May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, web-based resources, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues.
  • May work with clinical study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards.
  • Assists with data collection and data analysis.
  • Contributes to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings.
  • May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives.
  • May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

The RISE PHPA roles will support two distinct RISE-supported or -associated mixed methods research portfolios. One new RISE PHPA staff member will support research projects that evaluate state-specific policy and programmatic opportunities to expand access to contraception and abortion care and that estimate patterns in contraceptive and abortion care and related health experiences surrounding shifts in state policy. The other new staff will support research projects related to family planning and abortion access and service delivery, including telehealth for family planning and medication abortion, and task-shifting and service delivery of reproductive health services. Additionally, this position will involve abortion education research and program development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A master's degree in public health, a master's of science degree in public health or health education, or a master's in development practice from an accredited school.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Passion for sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice; public policy; community health–related work; and/or access to health services
  • Comfortable working with sensitive topics, especially abortion
  • Experience in public policy, public health, and/or reproductive health
  • Experience managing a research project with quantitative and/or qualitative data collection
  • Data analysis and data management experience; skills in programming and/or analytic software a plus (e.g., REDCap, Dedoose, MAXQDA, SAS, Stata, R)
  • Demonstrated administrative scheduling and coordination skills
  • Strong experience with productivity software (e.g., Microsoft 365, Docusign, Asana, Slack, Zoom, Google Docs, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills
  • Experience with grant-writing and reporting
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
