Process Operator/Formulator

The process operator (I.e., the formulator) is responsible for production and quality of formulated products, including mixing tank operations, such as; charging, adjusting, and transfer of material to drums, storage wagons, and tank-wagons.

Formulator should gain product and plant knowledge; and be responsible for filling drums, housekeeping, safety, and finished product disposition. It should continue to gain greater knowledge of plant and product; and be responsible for loading tankers and drums, charging fumed silica and other formulation materials and further support of the Formulation process. The employee will work on other shifts, as assigned.



General Function

  • Able to drive the forklift, jockey, and semi-trailer, all in-house only.
  • Know, Follow and Understand all company, job, and safety procedures, training, and policies for the following; but not limited to: ISO procedures (to maintain quality and customer satisfaction), On the Job Training, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and SDS for right to know.
  • Conduct operations in a safe manner and identify and report any potential safety hazards to a Shift Leader, HS&E Coordinator, or other management personnel.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment;
  • Work overtime as required to support the continuity of operations at the plant.
  • Perform any other related duties as directed by the Operations Leader or the Production Shift Leader.
  • Transfers formulated product to drums, labels, and completes required a paperwork.
  • Gains understanding of production schedule and processes of how it relates to work assignments & special instructions.
  • Gains further understanding of ISO procedures and production processes.
  • Works well with team members and is self-motivated to work more independently.
  • Displays effective verbal and written communication skills. Able to properly process workflow, including paper & electronic systems.
  • Sample mix tanks at appropriate time and when requested.
  • Gains understanding of SDS’.
  • Gains understanding of system controls, such as, Delta V charging of base resin from storage, styrene, micro-adds, mix tank batching, and alarms.
  • Gains understanding of Hydra: creating batches, input information, follows special instructions, and formulation cycle efficiency.
  • Processes finished product into correct shipping container.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 18 years or older

Professional Certification

  • Forklift

Special Skills

  • Warehouse or Production related.
  • Safety.
  • Night or rotating shift

Experience

  • 2-5 years total relevant experience
