Ark Healthcare and Rehabilitation at St Camillus, a 124 bed skilled nursing facility located in Stamford, CT, is hiring per diem Recreation Assistant(s) to join our team of Recreation Rockstars.

As a Recreation Assistant in our facility, you will play an integral role in helping to improve the overall well-being of our residents. You are responsible for assisting with the provision of recreational programs that benefit the quality of life of our residents, while striving to meet their emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual needs.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

• Preparing the activity room, obtaining and setting up any equipment required for the scheduled activity

• Safely transporting residents by wheelchair or escort ambulatory residents to activities

• Setting up and organizing residents with their individual or group project and assisting as necessary

• Encouraging participation, interest and motivate the residents in all programs

Attending and participating in facility required in-services, as required by facility, federal and state guidelines

• Documenting participation sheets daily

• Other related duties as assigned

As this is a position that requires a delicate touch it is imperative that the ideal candidate display patience and enthusiasm, speak tactfully and professionally, and maintain a cheerful disposition.

This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is currently enrolled in a Therapeutic Recreation Program, a student of Recreation and Leisure, or Recreation Therapy. As this is a per diem position for the fulfillment of weekend and weekday programming hours, schedules will be based on current applicant availability and the needs of the facility.

Previous nursing home experience and therapeutic recreation experience a plus, but not needed.
