Life Care was allowed the responsibility to serve people with disabilities living in the state of Texas. Life Care seeks to empower people with disabilities by helping them to live independently with dignity and security. Life Care has grown its programs, services and staff to meet the independent living needs of the communities and it continues to grow.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AS A PERSONAL CARE AIDE AT Life Care?

  • Performing personal care needs after giving a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the IL Specialist immediately.
  • Providing the clients and family with positive communication techniques, within the realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality.
  • Meeting safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails)
  • Giving personal care including, dressing and undressing patients.
  • Assist with bathing, shampooing them, combing hair and nail care (non diabetic) oral hygiene,
  • Assistance with self-administered medications, such as “reminders.” assist with the self administration and applying non prescription topical ointments or lotions.
  • You will assist with toileting Offering and assisting with bedpans and urinals and going to the bathroom, continence- Loss of bladder control, varying from a slight loss of urine after sneezing, coughing, or laughing to complete inability to control urination. Could include changing linens on beds for persons with medically related limitations that prohibit them from completion of these tasks, make bed, change sheets.
  • Providing assistance with daily laundry needs, launder, iron, mend
  • Keeping the patient's living area clean, Sweep, vacuum and scrub floors, Tidy and dust, clean bathrooms, windows and blinds if in reach. (No Climbing)
  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals, Assisting with feeding the patient if medically needed.
  • Shop for essential items (for example, groceries, cleaning supplies, ect.)
  • Perform essential errands
  • Read and write essential correspondence, for the blind, illiterate, or physically impaired.
  • Clean up meals, wash dishes, pots and pans and the utensils. Wipe down counters, appliances, including oven, surface burners and inside the refrigerator. Take out trash. And put it out for pickup.
  • Assessing and reporting on patient condition and significant changes to the IL Specialists. assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the IL Specialist immediately.

  • Assisting with mobility and transfer, and ambulating when clients can at least bear their own weight.
  • Respectful of the patient and instruct them on ways to become more self-sufficient in performing household tasks.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of Life Care In-Home Care policies, procedures and practices
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given. Good organizational skills.
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. Provides a calm manner when in a patient’s home.
  • Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
  • Possess and maintain current CPR certification. (Will train)
  • Ability to complete required forms, reports, and/or other paperwork correctly and timely.

WHERE WILL YOU BE NEEDED?

You will work a schedule that works best for you, with travel required.

WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOUR TRAINING EXPERIENCE WILL BE LIKE?

You will work closely with the In-Home Coordinator as well as other administrators and team members to first learn the programs, mission, vision, and people of Life Care as well as learning the client base.

You will work with people with disabilities and help them in their homes.

WHAT KIND OF SALARY CAN YOU EARN?

$14-$15 per hour
