As a reflection of our current needs and planned growth we are very pleased to offer an opportunity to join our Finance team as a Payroll Supervisor. In this role, you will support the Payroll function in a complex organizational structure.

Responsibilities

  • Meets payroll operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
  • Updates records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, insurance changes, deductions, paid-time not worked, status, and pay; calculating vacation earned.
  • Prepares pay by verifying time records; calculating and producing checks or electronic transfers; pay quarterly incentive bonuses.
  • Support payroll account reconciliation by auditing information; identifying and resolving discrepancies; and supporting GL team’s journal entries.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by entering federal and state income and social security tax information, 401k transfer and direct deposits, wage assignments and garnishments.
  • Supervise wage garnishment requirements by completing forms; adjusting payroll records, documenting, and transmitting withholdings; negotiating with collection agencies to convert garnishments to wage assignments.
  • Support our 3rd party remitting of tax payments by understanding data; reviewing federal, state, and local tax reports, and W2 statements; initiating and monitoring of payments.
  • Utilize relevant reporting tools to maximize efficiency of processes, accuracy of data and to develop relevant Payroll KPIs.
  • Recommends and assists Manager in developing and implementing new and/or revised policies/procedures to ensure efficient processing of Aspen Dental’s payroll and ongoing compliance with legislative mandates and statutes.
  • Provides information, assistance and/or training to employees, staff, and the Aspen Dental community; trains on payroll policies/procedures; answers employee/staff questions during payroll editing and check processing.
  • Assists Manager with supporting opportunities to increase effectiveness of computer operations, system utilization, response time, and software capabilities/needs.
  • Works closely with Manager to assist internal and external auditors during audit process by providing documents, reports, and other payroll-related reports upon request; implements procedural changes recommended by auditors.
  • Supervises, reviews, and evaluates performance of assigned employees; recommends modification in employment status of assigned employees to Manager for review/approval.
  • Coordinates daily work activities and assigns work; organizes and prioritizes department workload; monitors status of work in progress; and inspects completed work.

Minimum Education And Experience

  • Minimum Associates degree, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Payroll role in a fast paced, high volume retail industry preferred.
  • Proven supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrated ability to pay close attention to details, excellent accuracy and completeness, and adherence to strict deadlines.
  • Intermediate command of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office programs.
  • Excellent written and oral skills to communicate with various levels of management.
  • Diplomacy skills to deal effectively and professionally with obstacles that arise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment with a seamless effect on the business.
  • ADP/Workday experience is preferred.
  • Tier 1 Payroll ERP experience a plus
  • A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
