Summary:
· The Payroll Specialist/HR Coordinator will perform the full life cycle of the payroll administration. He/she will report to the Human Resource Director and coordinate payroll related efforts with Human Resources, Administration, Finance, and employees of Connecticut Renaissance. The Payroll Specialist/HR Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting the HR Department with various ongoing HR projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review employee timesheets and other related payroll data to process payroll accurately and timely.
 - Review timesheets, wage computations, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
 - Assist employees and managers with payroll timekeeping, respond to questions or concerns about payroll.
 - Record and track employee transfers and resignations to ensure correct payroll processing.
 - Verify attendance, hours worked, pay adjustments and post information into payroll system.
 - Handle basic HR inquiries from employees and leadership.
 - Process paperwork for new employees and enter employee information into the payroll system.
 - After payroll submission, complete necessary reporting and payments: retirement loan payments, Flexible Spending Accounts and Dependent Care Account payments, Time off Accrual Reporting and Affordable Care Act reporting.
 - Track employee time off accruals and respond to inquires for: vacation, personal, sick balances.
 - Provide customer service to internal and external customers by responding to inquires in a timely manner such as: garnishments, employment verification letters, and wage verifications inquiries.
 - File documents related to payroll processing.
 - Serve as the primary contact for payroll related issues or concerns.
 - Run reports from the payroll system.
 - Oversee and manage the integrity of information stored in the payroll system.
 - Develop and communicate long term ideas to enhance payroll systems and processes.
 - Complete all mandatory internal and external trainings.
 - Assist with compiling documentation for Agency audits.
 - Onboard new employees/coordinate with HR Admin to maintain contact with hiring managers during the onboarding process.
 - Be the point of contact for employees and managers regarding benefits, as well as administering benefits for employees.
 - Bill reconciliation
 - Other duties assigned, but not limited to duties listed above.
 
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge Of:
· Knowledge of various payroll operating systems and processes.
· Adherence to Connecticut State and Federal laws on wages.
· General office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability To:
· Interact effectively with staff of all levels.
· Adhere to Connecticut Renaissance policies and procedures.
· Analyze and solve problems effectively and efficiently.
· Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Manage priorities to meet deadlines and demonstrate multi-tasking skills.
· Assimilate to new information and technology.
· Attention to detail a must.
· Must have a professional demeanor and be customer-service oriented.
Education and Experience:
· Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.
· Two years of experience of payroll processing and HR/or a combination of both education and experience.
Other:
- Must be: ethical, self-motivated, dependable/reliable, and detailed oriented.
 - Must be able to interface easily with staff, senior management personnel, licensing/accreditation organizations and funding sources.
 
· Must be able to meet routine office physical demands including, carrying up to 20 pound objects
· Must possess a valid driver’s license.
