Payload Project Manager

Kennedy Space Center


The Ideal Candidate will:

Have an engineering degree and provides project management and systems engineering expertise during the requirements definition, design, development, integration, mission planning, and operation of assigned projects.


This opportunity allows you to be the payload provider that assists the increasingly important life science experiments get onboard the International Space Station and help NASA with its plan to keep humans in space for long durations. In this role, you will assist the Principal Investigator in transforming their experiment from academic labs to processing the science in hardware launched and operated by NASA crew members. These science experiments further NASA’s mission to have a continuous presence in space in both low earth orbit and deep space missions.

Responsibilities:
The Projects consist of payloads assigned via the REMIS KSC Multi-Use Hardware task order and will consist of biological experiments using the BRIC, Veggie, Spectrum, and/or KFT hardware/facilities. All experiments are internal ISS micro-gravity biological experiments.

  • Manage the project integrated schedule, cost, and technical issues associated with all of the payload processing activities and sustaining activities.
  • Provide engineering expertise, facilitates flight hardware build and certification, and performs payload integration for the flight of the payloads.
  • Make team task assignments to execute the schedule, and assist with resolution of technical issues.

Qualifications:
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Biomedical, Chemical, Environmental, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Industrial)
  • 7 years of experience in Space Industry.
  • Minimum 4 years of Project Management experience.
