Description of Work Unit
This section is part of the Outdoor Service Group and provides a variety of trades services that contribute to a safe and healthy environment for the Colorado State University campus community. Installation, repair and maintenance of outdoor furnishings such as signage, tables, benches and seat walls, fences, monument pillars also include street, sidewalk, and stair maintenance. Maintenance services of fixtures and components within various sporting venues such as Moby Gym, Canvas Stadium, etc.
Position Summary
This position is in training to assist with a variety of trades duties which involves maintaining, installing, and replacing concrete, asphalt, regulatory signage, benches, seat walls, and fencing on outdoor campus areas. Maintaining motorized winches, electric motors, baskets, motorized bleachers within various sporting event venues. Also responsible for assisting with event support, hauling and moving lab equipment, disassembling and assembling equipment, snow removal, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials:
- Two years of experience performing trades duties which involved one or more of the following: installation, maintenance, renovation, and upkeep of concrete, asphalt, regulatory signage, and/or carpentry duties.

Duty/Responsibility
Position is in training and will assist with the following:
- Assembles, installs, and maintains outdoor components such as tables, benches, stair treads, handrails, fencing, concrete structure walls including masonry and capstones.
- Fabricates and installs regulatory signage and plaques. Requires the knowledge of anchor systems and other devices for installation.
- Removes and replaces concrete and asphalt on streets, sidewalks, stairs, loading docks, etc. Including demolition, replacement, grinding, patchwork and safety assessments of these areas.
- Maintains, repairs and installs components within multiple sporting venues:
- Motorized bleachers, fixed seating, retractable basketball baskets and associated framework, winches and motors (electrical wiring and setting limits), including structural inspections.
- Assembles, installs, and maintains a variety of goals such as (football goal post, soccer goals, basketball backboards, etc.).
- Performs inspections and tests to provide certification of baskets, goals, etc. meeting NCAA standards and specifications. Installs floor decals and athletic banners.
- Operates equipment for excavations, lab equipment moves, snow removal, street and sidewalk maintenance and repair utilizing jack hammers, dump trucks with plow and sander, forklift, high ranger, tool cat, skid steer, etc.
- Establishes customer contacts to estimate and schedule jobs, identifies and orders appropriate materials, manage work orders to perform these jobs.
- Assembles and disassembles non-typical, heavy and highly delicate lab equipment (laminar flow hoods, Laser tables, growth chambers etc.) and building mechanical equipment, which involves specialized rigging and strenuous lifting requirements.

- Assembles staging and stairs, set up and layout of chairs, tarping of arena floors, carpeting stages, stages waste receptacles, coordinates and deliver tables and chairs for small and large events campus wide, etc.
- Supports Athletic with sporting events such as football and basketball which includes working football and basketball games for a variety of support from setting trash cans to changing baskets during game time.
- Requires the flexibility to work after hours and weekends to service mission critical university programs.
