Your New Role…

The News Assistant is an integral part of the newsroom and the assignment desk. In this role, the news assistant is responsible for newsgathering for all CNN platforms including television and digital. There is a strong emphasis on writing and collaborating with our team of editors and managers. Clear, concise dissemination of information is a necessity. Candidate should have experience conducting interviews as well as writing. There are opportunities to write stories for CNN.com and some field work may be included in this position.

Your Role Accountabilities…

• The News Assistant will be tasked will making calls and combing through social media during breaking news as well as enterprise reporting.
• Logging news conferences, transcribing interviews and scouring the CNN library and affiliates for video elements are also essential tasks.
• Contribute daily story pitch ideas and be proficient with detailed notes and organization.

Qualifications & Experience…

• It is critical that the candidate be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment where accuracy is paramount.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience preferable in Journalism.

The Legal Bits…

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $35,360.00 - $50,700.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
