BASIC FUNCTION:
The RLCIE Mentor Program Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of the mentoring program, which matches alumni mentors with RLCIE Fellows Candidates for a semester-long mentoring relationship. The Mentor Program Coordinator ensures program quality and performance related to recruiting, screening, matching, monitoring and closing the relationship with the mentor and mentee. The Mentor Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the mentoring program.
This position reports to the Executive Director of the Randall Lewis Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Mentor & Mentee Recruitment & Onboarding (Approximately 50% Time)
The Mentor Program Coordinator will manage the implementation of the program’s mentor and mentee recruitment and onboarding processes with an emphasis on:
  • Enhancing and overseeing the implementation of an ongoing mentor recruitment plan including the development of annual recruitment and quarterly activity plans, development and distribution of program marketing materials, presentations to targeted organizations and ensuring a presence at key community events.
  • Ensuring timely response and support to mentor and mentee inquiries and concerns throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Administering and/or arranging mentor and mentee orientation, training and matching activities that align with the mentor program manual and help to advance the program outcomes for mentees.
Mentor & Mentee Monitoring and Support (Approximately 40% Time)
To ensure the achievement of program outcomes and retention of mentors and mentees, the Mentor Program Coordinator will:
  • Supervise the participation of mentors and mentees in the mentoring program.
  • Manage the planning and implementation of mentor and mentee group events.
  • Manage the administration of evaluation activities for the RLCIE Mentor Program.
  • Plan and implement retention strategies and recognition activities for program participants.
  • Implement a regular check-in schedule with mentors and mentees and make referrals to other RLCIE programming and events.
Program and Organizational Development (Approximately 10% Time)
To advance the development, implementation and integration of the Mentor Program within the RLCIE and the larger Claremont College community, the mentoring program coordinator will:
  • Develop and manage relationships with campus organizations to support mentor and mentee recruitment and program implementation
  • Build a strong working relationship with staff, volunteers and committee members
  • Maintain and update the program’s policy, procedure and program manual as needed

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two or more years of related experience. Experience at an academic institution or community organization is preferred.
LICENSES:
A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.

HOURS: This position is a part-time position with an estimated average of 20 hours per week. This is a 12-month year-round position.
