Purpose
The Medical Science Liaison is the face of Chiesi to the customer and represents the organization by driving the execution of customer-oriented medical activities. He/she is the medical scientific contact of the external medical professional and in that role contributes to Chiesi's mission to achieve customer excellence and optimal patient care. By exchanging scientific (product) information, he/she can contribute to optimizing the correct medical scientific knowledge of Chiesi's products.
Main Responsibilities
Result area: Medical knowledge
Maintaining and transferring medical knowledge within and outside the organization, in such a way that the level of medical knowledge within the organization in general and the BU Primary Care in particular is guaranteed and employees, care providers and patients feel optimally supported.
Activities:
Keeps his/her scientific knowledge up to date and ensures that he is aware of relevant clinical trends and developments regarding various products and diseases;
Collaborates cross-functionally on strategy and customer excellence initiatives, integrating the medical perspective into cross-departmental projects (e.g. marketing, CX);
Distributes his/her knowledge within the organizations by, among other things, training commercial colleagues (Sales, Brand Management and Marketing) and answering medical questions;
Helps increase scientific knowledge among healthcare professionals, in particular KOLs, and provides them with medical advice about Chiesi products and associated syndromes;
Co-organizes theme meetings, journal clubs and advisory boards for the purpose of sharing specific information about a topic;
Provides pre-launch activities within Chiesi BeNeLux for new products and therapy areas;
Facilitates and/or coordinates Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS), appropriate to Chiesi's strategy and objectives and ensures follow-up;
Translates data from reports, projects, etc. into practice, shares important data with doctors and discusses the analysis of that data.
Result Area: Networking and Customer Service
Build and maintain relationships that lead to business benefits for Chiesi BeNeLux in general and the BU Primary Care in particular.
Activities:
Identifies, builds and maintains professional relationships with healthcare professionals and ensures continuous optimization of those relationships;
Advises/informs (potential) customers about Chiesi, its services, (new) products and developments;
Understands and anticipates evolving needs of healthcare providers by jointly identifying and implementing possible solutions to specific obstacles that contribute to the client's and Chiesi's objectives;
Supervises the service provision to existing customers, monitors customer satisfaction and undertakes activities/actions to improve this;
Processes discussions and activities in Chiesi's CRM and prepares the necessary reports;
Is recognized by (inter)national KOLs as a valuable medical scientific discussion partner;
Participates in scientific conferences and symposia and represents Chiesi, helps build the scientific image of Chiesi, based on mutual scientific respect.
Result Area: Compliance and Medical Ethics
Manages and monitors the quality of activities, projects and events in such a way that Chiesi complies with all imposed guidelines.
Activities:
Assesses sponsor activities, projects and events in relation to CGR and (local) SOPs and guarantees high quality medical content of projects and events;
Stops activities that do not meet the set conditions or ensures that they are adjusted so that the conditions are met;
As the occasion arises, assesses promotional materials in relation to CGR and SOP, technically and medically;
Provides internal training and explanation about compliance with regard to CGR and SOPs;
Registers the scientific exchange issues and MSL activities in the CRM system and takes care of all associated reports and other mandatory activities.
Experience Required
Extensive experience in the field of clinical research, of which at least 2 years of work experience in a similar position;
Experience in successfully building and maintaining a network;
Experience with project management and independently managing and coordinating projects.
Education
Master's degree work and thinking level, for example a completed education in medicine, pharmacy or life sciences;
A PhD (PharmD, PhD, MD, MS or equivalent) is an advantage;
Technical Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English;
Knowledge of and experience within the pharmaceutical care field;
Knowledge of clinical developments;
Knowledge of CGR legislation.
