SUMMARY

Responsible for implementing system infection prevention strategies, policies and practices at the market/site level. Leads market integration and standardization ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements. Serves as subject matter expert for infection prevention. Leads, coaches and mentors the site and/or market-based infection prevention team(s).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the operation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program at the Market level to ensure patient and personnel safety, in alignment with system goals, and compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements.
  • Provides leadership and management of key infection and control initiatives to reduce healthcare acquired infections through application of epidemiologic principles and statistical methods.
  • Provides oversight for the identification of complex infection control problems, inter-relationships of problems, and sources of infection. Oversees the identification of infection risks and trends.
  • Provides oversight for the development and review of the annual infection control plans, risk assessments and surveillance indicators. Coordinates the collection and analysis of data from the indicators.
  • Responsible for coordinating, analyzing and evaluating Market based infection prevention and control practices for hospitals and affiliate/outlying clinics.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards.
  • Provides oversight and guidance for complex construction and renovation infection control risk assessments.
  • Promotes and facilitates continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities to achieve a multi-disciplinary approach to infection control.
  • Leads and participates as necessary in the day to day infection prevention activities including surveillance, rounding, preparing and dissemination of reports and communication as needed.
  • Leads and implements strategies in the event of communicable disease outbreaks within the health care facilities and/or community.
  • Participates in and contributes to the system wide infection prevention initiatives through implementation of performance improvement projects and policy/procedure development.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree Nursing or healthcare related field
Preferred Education: Masters Degree Nursing or other health related field

Licensure/Certification

Required: Certification in Infection Control (CIC), awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC), within 3 years

Preferred: Completion of advanced education in Infection Prevention
