Within our image-guided surgery (IGS) research group, we are looking for a skilled Machine learning engineer to join our team of researchers, clinicians, and scientists in the Netherlands Cancer Institute – Antoni van Leeuwenhoek. You will work on the development and implementation of novel image analysis techniques for various scientific research projects that are carried out at IGS.

You will be working in a multidisciplinary team on multiple projects. Your input and suggestions will be used to improve the projects.
In the end, it will be your code that helps surgeons improve the treatment of cancer.

• MSc or higher degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field;
• Extensive programming skills using a variety of tools and languages (Python, Matlab, …), ability to independently become familiar with new libraries and languages;
• Experience in developing and maintaining software systems for state-of-the-art machine learning, high-performance computing, data/image processing and analysis;
• Experience in medical image analysis is preferred, but not mandatory;
• Good knowledge and experience with machine learning and deep learning toolboxes;
• Technology-minded and willing to learn about new tools and technologies;
• Communication and service-oriented skills to support researchers working on research projects;
• English proficiency

The vacancy is available immediately. You will be employed for a period of 1 year with the possibility to extend. The gross salary per month will range from € 2.759- to a maximum of € 4.391,- depending on your previous work experience. The terms of employment will be in accordance with the CAO Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals) FWG 50 or FWG 55. In addition you will receive a fixed end-of-year bonus in December (8,33%) and in May you will receive 8,33% holiday pay.
