POSITION SUMMARY

Ensure that aluminum is delivered to the casting floor on time, at the right temperature, and in accordance with established specifications, safely and 100% of the time. Clean and remove dross from the melting and holding furnaces. Operate and maintain related equipment in compliance with training and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Travel between all MKC locations in WI (located in Madison and Sun Prairie).
• Deliver aluminum to the casting holding furnaces using forklift according to established work procedures.
• Pick up and melt aluminum scrap from the die cast floor or weigh it to go to other MKC locations.
• Flux and clean melting and holding furnaces, charge and pump wells.
• Collect dross and oily scrap, place in proper tubs and locations for tolling.
• Document and mainain all required log sheets and checklists.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Heavy manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to loud noises, extreme heat and cold, dirt, grease, smoke, dust, and molten metal
• Working aloft, bending, and awkward positions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.
• The use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic reading and math skills required.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in comprehensive English.
• Electrical, mechanical, problem solving, and computer skills preferred.
• Must be able to pass the MKC forklift and crane certification.
• Demonstrate group participation in a self-starting, self-motivated, self-directed work team.
