Direct Support Professional

Seeking a Life Skills Coach/ Community Mentor for a younger individual with Autism who is currently attending College. You will be working in the individuals's home and accompanying him within the community in Hamden, CT. This is a part-time position and is about 16 hours per week. There is a virtual trainng that will need to be attended within 4 months of hire. In addition, new hires will initially have weekly phone calls with a manager for training sessions as well as to discuss the assessment, goals, and strategies that will be employed during visits with the individual.

In addition the the wage, there is a $20 per week gas reimbursement.

We provide valuable, one on one phone training sessions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide direct support, coaching, cueing/supervison with activities of daily living and individual goals
• Provide mentorship and social interaction and skills within the community
• Collaborate with families and the team to implement case plans
• Assess the individual's needs and goals and strategize on how to implement services
• Report progess, concerns and feedback to the manager, and report any immediate changes to the individual
• Transport the individual in a personal vehicle to and from activities within the community
• Provide empathetic and compassionate support and coaching to the individual
• Required Qualifications
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision
• Must have a valid drivers license and minimum liability auto insurance
• Must be reliable, personable and engaging
• Experience working with individuals who have Autism

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $17.75 per hour
