Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities:
This position is for a 6-month term full-time or Temporary Part-Time Casual up to 900 hours.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to Company officials on various complex or important legal matters.
  • Advise leaders and management on a broad range of corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters, and provide a high-quality legal partnership to the business leadership.
  • Work to resolve various complex and important legal problems.
  • Provide legal advice and handles legal matters in the following areas of law: labor law and labor grievances; employment law; wage and hour compliance; EEOC charges; manages employment/labor-related litigation; federal and state privacy laws; HIPPA; insurance; employment investigations; labor/employment-related regulatory compliance; occupational medicine, and other areas as assigned.
  • Represent the company in administrative level actions such as at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
  • Manage litigation conducted by outside counsel in Federal or State courts, or appears on behalf of the company in Federal or State Court (as needed).
  • Prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, discovery documents, and motions and briefs relating to litigation and appellate matters.
  • Work to ensure operations remain within the limits prescribed by law and business contracts with the federal government.
  • Perform legal research and analysis in complex or important issues.
  • Keep abreast of industry-specific regulations, in particular, Department of Energy regulations and policies governing Managing and Operating Contractors.
  • Develop and disseminate policy and direction on legal aspects of operating activities for the guidance and control of operating divisions.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited lawschool, or any law school that is approved by the Nevada Supreme Court and up to 5 years’ experience in relevant area(s) of law with at least 3 years as a licensed attorney with a law firm, government
    agency, and/or corporate in-house legal department.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

(position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is $92,102.40 - $165,000.00.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
