Assists in directing and coordinating the daily operations of the Patient Service functions. Provides assistance to staff as necessary to ensure compliance with department policies and procedures. Assists leadership with staffing oversight, key performance and QA process. Greet patients; coordinate the scheduling and registration of patients; provide cash handling and support to other areas of the dental school as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support the department director by supervising the day-to-day operations of Patient Registration, Cashiering and Radiology staff.
2. Manage the area’s daily rotation schedule to ensure all tasks are completed
3. Support the department director with maintaining the screening schedule
4. Perform data entry including new patient registration; re-registration including updating insurance and demographic information; and treatment information,
5. Facilitate the patient billing process including verifying patient insurance eligibility, copy insurance card information; Process and record payments for dental treatment and allocate payment to treatment and reconcile cash drawers
6. Support the Records Coordinator with the maintenance and facilitate the handling of patient records including the scanning of new patient records as needed
7. Support the Radiology Coordinator with the scheduling of appointments, inputting and completing treatments, and the maintenance of the block rotation schedule
8. Provide Support to other clinical areas as assigned
9. Maintaining and ordering paperwork and supplies for the area.
10. Training/cross training of new employees
11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High School Education or equivalent.
2+ years customer service experience in a healthcare environment, and experience training and leading a team.
Knowledge of Dental Terminology, Leadership training or experience managing people, Excellent problem solving and customer service skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service and listening skills.
Must have knowledge of inventory control/supply ordering.
Working knowledge in the areas of Patient Registration, Cash handling, Patient Records management, and Radiology department coordination.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and constant interruptions in an environment that can be stressful at times.
Courteous demeanor, discretion, flexibility, ability to work and communicate with people from a diverse population.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Associates Degree or higher
Leadership certification or 2+ years’ experience managing people
Bi-lingual
