Alaska Testlab (ATL) is a one-of-a-kind employer-based out of Anchorage, AK. ATL specializes in special inspection services, construction field testing, laboratory testing of soils, rock, aggregates, concrete, masonry and bituminous mixtures, geophysical testing, and other specialty services throughout Alaska.
 We are currently recruiting Special Inspectors at levels I, II, and III in Anchorage. This is a full-time, seasonal position from May through October.
 This is an opportunity to experience Alaska, travel across the state to various communities, perform routine to complex inspections of vertical construction projects, and verify conformance to construction plans and specifications. Projects will be of all types and sizes and daily responsibilities will be varied.
 Summary
 Alaska Testlab (ATL) employs Inspectors to perform special inspections in accordance with the International Building Code, specifications, ATL policies and other published standards, under the supervision of a professional engineer. Inspectors will perform field and office tasks under the general supervision of the Field Supervisor; they will also direct lower level technicians on projects and mentor senior technicians as they transition to becoming inspectors.
 Core Functions
 Inspect and observe construction projects under supervision of a senior inspector or project manager.
 Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications.
 Supervise field testing related to soil, concrete, and asphalt.
 Prepare and submit clear, concise, and legible daily reports of observations and test results.
 Communicate daily and as needed with supervisors, coworkers, clients, contractors, owners, municipal employees, and engineering staff.
 Provide inspections per the IBC to include some or all of the following: concrete, masonry, fireproofing, steel/welding, wood, rack, seismic, pre-stress, soils, piles, etc…
 Maintain company vehicle and equipment in good working order.

 Work Environment & Physical Demands
 The job involves being subjected to the elements including extreme cold and heat and hazards including, but not limited to, working on scaffolding, moving vehicles, and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Physical demands include listening, talking, writing, walking, sitting, standing, regularly lifting modest payloads (rarely more than 75lbs.), getting in and out of vehicles, and operating a range of equipment.
