WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
When a nurse needs to know if a bed is available or a doctor wants to make sure special instructions are followed, they turn to the House Supervisor. Representing hospital administration in your department means you have those answers and more. It means you coordinate activities, supervise staff, monitor admissions, transfers and clinical needs… it means you make sure what’s supposed to get done, does.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for appropriate distribution of patient care resources in order to comply with established staffing guidelines.

  • Communicate potentially significant issues on a timely basis in order to facilitate continuity of investigation and resolution. (via chain of command)

  • Serve as hospital administrator during tour of duty in order to assure consistent direction and leadership of organizational activities.

  • Identify and places all patients, including direct admits and transfers.

  • Collaborate with other departments to prioritize and authorize all bed placements.

  • Conduct daily bed briefing meetings with clinical areas.


WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED

  • Utilize regulatory information regarding admission criteria for admissions.

  • Escalate discharge issues to the Medical Director of the area as necessary.

  • Organize placement process to meet patient load influx and eliminates bed assignment delays, by continuous communication to Director of Nursing, Director Peri-Op services, and Admitting staff.

  • Intervene in crisis situations in order to maintain desired level of customer satisfaction.

  • Function as a patient advocate in order to provide a defined standard of care.

  • Act as clinical resource in order to provide effective coaching and role modeling to obtain desired development of staff in collaboration with Nurse Managers.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required or
  • Associates/RN Diploma Required and
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 3 years Patient Care/Nursing Required and
  • 2 years Charge Nurse or demonstrated leadership skills Required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - . in applicable state Required and
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association within 90 Days Required and
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association Preferred and
  • Nurse Executive - Board Certified (NE-BC) - . Preferred or
  • Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certification (NEA-BC) - . Preferred
