Job description

The Co-Lab seeks a tech-savvy Filmmaker (could be a student) starting immediately to work with Founder and Co-Lab youth team to create a 30 min documentary film highlighting the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals and what teens can do globally to be change-makers.

The Film Fellow will help manage a team of teenage film makers working with the Founding Director and an intern to write the documentary, manage teen inputs, film parts of the documentary in New York city July 10-15 2023 at the United Nations, and then help with the final editing with interviews and existing photos and videos to make a 30 minute film.

The fellowship is open to filmmakers who can get to NYC in July globally including recent film undergraduate and graduate students. The internship requires an immediate start time in early April of 5 hours a week - working virtually - to working full time the week of July 10-14 in New York City. This is a non-paid fellowship but the Fellow will be ensured a small commission contingent upon the film being finished satisfactorily of $500 and can also get work/study credit.

The Co-Lab seeks a Fellow who has, in addition to excellent film making skills, excellent communication, English language skills, time management, organizational skills, is a strong writer, and is comfortable working with minimal supervision. The position requires the Fellow love working with teens! Considerable maturity as well as a passion for the subject matter is a requirement. The Fellow will work directly with the Founding Director.

Who can apply?

Filmmakers and/or current full-time or part-time undergraduate and graduate students eligible to work in the United States are welcome to apply. The Co-Lab is committed to recruiting a diverse cohort of interns, fellows, volunteers, and staff. Please submit a short cover note and resume and sample of your film work.

The Global Co Lab Network is a nonprofit, based in Arlington VA, a virtual “do tank” that empowers inter-generational engagements building on teen and millennial passions, incubating initiatives (on any issue) out of carefully designed and facilitated Co-Lab gatherings.
