Position Summary: The EH&S Manager will lead and manage the safety and asset protection programs at our local distribution center to ensure prevention of financial loss resulting from theft or fraud, and monitoring overall crew member safety through diligently supporting and building the overall safety culture of the facility.
- Conduct and/or supervise Daily Safety and AP Distribution Center Audit, communicating results to leadership
- Prioritize areas for improvement and action plan with management
- Conduct and lead Distribution Center trainings in conjunction with the Training Ambassadors
- Ensure all trainings are tracked and all crew members are within compliance
- Participate in daily GEMBA walks with management to provide safety and AP feedback
- Develops awareness initiatives that reinforce and encourage employee involvement
- Monitor HAZMAT at the Distribution Center
- Monitor Distribution Center Incident rate
- Responsible for supervising Asset Protection Officers, directly at 860, and indirectly at 760
- Enforce Company and departmental policies and procedures
- Perform investigations into incidents, accidents and other company issues and provide detailed written reports for all issues.
- Formulate strategies that ensure the tamper free movement of product from the Distribution Centers to the Stores
- Effectively interface and serve as a leader with other distribution center employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Manage facility CCTV system and all facets of physical security.
- Ensure safety of all West Marine associates at all times.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a safety and/or Asset Protection role with safety responsibilities
- Experience with building safety programs:
- Crafting and updating OSHA complaint trainings and programs:
- Active Shooter
- Blood Borne Pathogens
- Electrical Safety (Arc Flash safety, cabinets, boxes and fittings, guarding of live parts, power cord safety etc.)
- Ergonomics (Safe Lifting)
- Fall Protection
- Fire Safety
- General Forklift Safety (and for pedestrians)
- Hand Tool Safety
- Heat Illness Prevention
- Ladder safety
- Lock out / Tag out
- PPE
- Spill prevention and response
- Substance Abuse Policy
- Workplace Violence Prevention Program
- IIPP or safety manual
- GHS programs
- Crafting and updating OSHA complaint trainings and programs:
- Experience conducting trainings to teams of 50 – 150 employees
- Extensive knowledge of EPA standards and OSHA regulations, including
- Strong communication skills
- Strong ability to handle and manage multiple projects
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & Health or related field experience
- Experience in distribution/warehouse/manufacturing environment
- Electrical Experience
- CHST, CSP, GSP/ASP
- Familiarity with regional SC OSHA requirements
