Position Summary

The Computer-Aided Design Drafter is an entry level role. The candidate will have basic knowledge of blue print drawings and conversion of drawings. In addition, strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and a willingness to learn and expand knowledge in this field is ideal. Training with CAD software would be provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Once fully trained, the CAD Drafter will be able to:

· Create 2D drawings from customer supplied drawings and sketches

· Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes

· Translate and convert hand drawings and sketches into CAD systems

· Create CNC programs for shop burn tables using nesting software

· Read, evaluate and interpret designs and drawings

· Review blueprints, plans, specifications and other customer documentation when service is requested by sales/customer service team

· Collaborate with sales and plant supervisors on guidelines for drawings in order to meet and exceed customer’s requirements and expectations

· Assist sales department with printing drawings for quotes

· Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation for future reference

· Follow filing guidelines for drawings to maintain up-to-date drawings

Qualifications and Requirements

· *Excellent communication skills required

· *Strong Critical Thinking Skills required

· Exceptional customer service and the ability to navigate through problems to come to a reasonable solution required

· Ability to focus and concentrate for extended periods of time while paying close attention to detail

· Knowledge of standard drafting practices and procedures

Education and Experience

· Some college experience and/or currently working towards an Associate’s Degree in CAD or related field; or a combination of experience and demonstrated competency will be considered.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The following environment/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position.

· Exposure to noise, chemicals, and materials due to shop environment

· Office environment-predominately sedentary

· Occasional standing, walking, and lifting; at least 20 lbs.
