Valley View is in search of a qualified Business Analyst III to assist our Information Technology team in support of our clinical applications. This is a full-time, benefited position.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The Business Analyst III - Clinical Applications position participates with users/departments in analysis, interpretation, support and documentation of functional clinical/business requirements within clinical informatics and clinical application systems. Develops, educates, builds or advises on clinical solutions for users/departments based on business requirements throughout the system.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Has the patient and patient safety as a primary focus in all work being done within clinical informatics and clinical applications processes/systems.
  • Work efforts are in alignment with the organizations and department goals.
  • Leads users/departments in analysis, interpretation, and documentation of functional business requirements.
  • Develops, builds or advises on solutions for users or departments based on business requirements.
  • Performs analysis of computer information systems and clinical applications and identifying areas for improvement.
  • May perform as a team leader for assigned projects, utilizing efficient project management skills. Provides timely communication to IT and Operations regarding project status, changes, or issues.
  • Provides workflow assistance, troubleshooting, maintenance and support for clinical informatics and clinical applications.
  • Provides consultation and education for staff, including providers, in areas of problem resolution and process improvement on issues related to workflow, documentation, and system utilization; attends user meetings as required.
  • Facilitates design and restructure of clinical informatics and clinical application workflows in conjunction with clinical staff; workflows will focus on improving efficiencies, solving complex issues and incorporating quality initiatives.
  • Shares knowledge with others in department on system functionality, business knowledge and technical skills.
  • Remains current with the latest developments in technology and services related to IT.
  • Makes build changes in clinical informatics and application systems as directed and approved by team lead or supervisor, following change management processes according to IT procedures and schedules.
  • Creates/performs functional testing and coordinates user acceptance of testing prior to product release to assure applications are stable and ready for production.
  • Leads and participates in the development of the product implementation plan, developing training documentation and materials, and provides Train the Trainer sessions as required.
  • Educates staff, including providers, on issues related to documentation in software systems and the impact of this documentation on the system workflow.
  • Provides project guidance and interfaces with analysts and application vendors to assure that systems are developed in conformance with documented specifications.
  • Assists Technical Services in creating technical specifications and holding walkthroughs for all major systems changes.
  • Provides timely communication to IT and Operations regarding project status, project scope changes, resource availability issues, schedule changes, and resolution of open issues.
  • Provides 3rd tier support of clinical informatics and clinical application systems for users and coordinates with vendors for bug fixes/enhancements as needed.
  • Participates in onboarding/training of new staff as directed.
  • Proactively takes ownership of issues and escalates as necessary.
  • Resolves problems in a professional, timely, and collaborative manner.
  • Recommends changes in programs, routines and quality control standards to improve computer operating efficiency.
  • Mentors others in department on system functionality, business knowledge and technical skills.
  • Participates in downtime processes.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Minimum: Associate Degree or equivalent (Preferably Nursing/Healthcare/Informatics/Information Technology/Engineering related)
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Preferably Nursing/Healthcare/Informatics/Information Technology/Engineering related)
  • Preferred: Specialty certification in healthcare information technology (i.e. Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management System [CPHIMS], Certified Associate in Healthcare Information & Management Systems [CAHIMS] or Board Certified in Nursing Informatics, or equivalent)

Experience / Skills:

  • Meditech 6.x and/or Athena system knowledge or similar EHR/EMR
  • A minimum of 3 years healthcare business process/operational knowledge/acumen; system utilization; Electronic Health Record utilization
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical informatics, including: system implementation, support, maintenance, development & data analysis
  • Advanced, detail-oriented documentation and training skills within the healthcare profession
  • Advanced, detailed analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Skilled in multi-tasking
  • Flexibility to influence people throughout the system at all levels
  • Customer service interaction experience while acting as primary liaison for vendors, contractors and project sponsors
  • Strong knowledge and ability to lead and support project/program planning and management best practices
  • Exceptional oral/written communication and presentation abilities to administration

SALARY RANGE:

  • Starting rate dependent upon education, skill set, and experience
  • Position salary range: ‎$62,860 - $92,430/year
