The Department of Residence Life and Housing at SUNY Oswego is a leader in developing a premier residential environment where students are actively engaged in their learning experience. The Department of Residence Life and Housing at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full-time Assignments Coordinator.

Description of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Occupancy, the Housing Assignments Coordinator is a full-time, twelve-month position. The housing assignments coordinator is responsible for the management of housing assignments and supporting housing systems and processes that are student-centered and reflect institutional values for approximately 4,000 beds. This position will assist with developing an inclusive vision, plan, and direction for year-round student on-campus housing administration that is consistent, fair, and in accordance with departmental policies and practices, as well as the mission and goals of the university.
Responsibilities:
Room Assignments & Inventory Management
- Manage and audit academic year student housing applications and assignments for new and continuing students to ensure accurate records. Support student housing during early arrival/late stay and break periods.
- Communicate with students and families about housing policies, assignment processes, and the housing and dining license.
- Work closely with live-in professional staff and provide direction and oversight for all in-hall housing occupancy processes, including occupancy certification, mid-semester room changes, waiting lists, room vacancies, and student departures.
- Evaluate and make determinations on requests for housing contract release and exemptions.
- Manage medical housing accommodations, animal registration, and other assignment support for students.
- Manage student housing records, including cancellations, withdrawals, and personal leaves, and audit associated housing credits, refunds, and charges.
Housing Administration & Planning
- Participate in strategic planning to establish short-term and long-range occupancy goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with departmental leadership to develop a communication plan to students and families that disseminates occupancy policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with institutional regulations, standards, and codes and maintain applicable housing records.
- Provide on-going occupancy training, including the use of The Housing Director software and departmental occupancy policies and procedures.
Record Management
- Manage departmental housing database and student housing portal and prepare, manage, and disseminate regular occupancy reports inclusive of space and rate audits.
- Manage daily Banner reports and reconcile discrepancies.
- Work with U.S. Census Bureau on all pertinent student residence processes, including monthly and decade-related census data.
Other Support
- Serve on university, division, and department committees as needed.
- Participate in departmental and divisional position searches as requested.
- Provide on-site support during openings, closings, housing selection, and high-traffic events, including some nights and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in residence life and housing
- Experience working with confidential records and information.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Able to exhibit essential customer service skills such as listening, acknowledging, and responding.
- Demonstrated active commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated working knowledge of an occupancy management system or the willingness and ability to learn within three (3) months of hire.
- Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner or other student information system.
- Experience administering data management programs, including databases, spreadsheets, and reports for data viewing, collection, and entry.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships.
