$15-$20/hour

Job Description: Club Challenge is the bridge for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that desire to participate fully in activities that satisfy their personal goals, expand their interests, engage in volunteer service, learn about taking care of themselves and others, and exploring the possibilities of the power of work. The Activity Leader II will assist adults with disabilities in developing and implementing personal goals, leading to integrated employment, social, and recreational outcomes. To provide education and consultation to the members through volunteer service, part time work and recreational activities. The Activity Leader II will report to the Community Education Project Manager.

Responsibilities and duties of this position include:

  • Promote the mission of the agency - "The Power of People and Possibilities for individuals living with disabilities."
  • Follow all Challenge Enterprises of North Florida, Inc.'s policies and procedures as set forth in the Board of Director's approved Personnel Handbook.
  • Assist with all recruiting efforts for Club Challenge Members (retired and retiring employees with intellectual and developmental disabilities from the work contracts, adults on the APD waiting list for Clay County and on the Westside near NAS Jacksonville and young men and women that have graduated high school in Clay County and do not have a job.
  • Facilitate person-centered planning with members, staff, and the community.
  • Engage in and facilitate outings with members providing safe and meaningful activities as directed by member's personal goals and interest.
  • Access and incorporate Clay Transit for community outings on regular basis as indicated by scheduled events.
  • Nurture natural support and facilitate safe social integration between members and the community.
  • Provide supervision and support for members in collaboration with community professionals.
  • Provide training for the members to enhance daily living skills, social skills and self-advocacy.
  • Maintain excellent communication with supervisors and staff.
  • Report all incidents following the approved Incident Reporting Procedures.
  • Attend and participate in all mandatory and recommended training.
  • Work cooperatively to provide a safe quality person-centered service, and to meet the goals as identified by the member's personal goals.
  • Work cooperatively on the monthly calendar and social media posts with the Activity Assistant.
  • Verify daily attendance as assigned.
  • Verify daily documentation following the approved procedures as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

To Perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required.   • Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree in social service, Education or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Preferred minimum 5 years' experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Must have a clean MVR.
  • Knowledge of the community
  • Must pass local and level 2 background check.
  • Must sign a non-Disclosure (confidentiality) agreement.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid and all required training.

Language Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate well in both verbally and in written English.
  • Must be patient when communicating with members in the program.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in social service, Education or related field or equivalent years of experience
  • High School Diploma required; College courses in Human Services, Social Work preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Able to twist, stoop, bend, reach, pull stand and walk for up to six hours per a day.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to assist individuals getting in and out vehicles.
